I think this was a good way of putting the logos because in a professional music magazine advert, these are usually at the bottom as it is the last thing you read meaning it should be the thing you think about the most as it was the last thing your mind interpreted. I also chose the font with the conventions in mind for later one when I am developing the magazine advert even more. I think so far this is going good and I am hoping to complete the rest soon.

Magaine advert so far II
Today I spent another lesson learning photo shop as I have very little skills and I have worked on resizing several types of logos which will go onto my final advert. I wanted to do this because this skill is important as I will need to re size lots of things in my advert.

Music Magazine Advert final descision
In my Magazine Advert I want to make it look simple throughout to fit the genre. I want it to not look cheesy or poor quality and I want to have a natural photo in the background. I d not want it to try and stand out like other music Adverts for genres such as pop or R&B. The Advert will d its job of advertising the music ad artist, not a general person and I will also use some reviews I will make up from famous music magazines to make it look more professional,I have already chosen the background picture from when I went to Bawsey Pits and I will ow apply all this to it. These are some drawings I made up;

Music magazine advert so far
Today I started my music magazine advert and I have now found the picture I want to use and also I have edited it so that it is how I want the background to be.
This is what I have so far. It is a picture I took when at Bawsey Pits filming and I thought this would be good because it has the nature feel to it and also as explained in a post before, this genre would not have the lead singer or group as the main selling point, unlike the Jesse-J advert I spoke about, it is instead about the meaning of the music and I think this fits well with my genre. The next stage is to start adding the fonts I want to use and test which ones look best and also which work best with this background.
I also need to take a look at adding company logos on which sell music so that the advertisement also shows way of buying the music as this is needed so that the audience know where they can buy the music from and how.

Filming complete
Today we finally found the time to complete our filming at the last location at Carl's house and we got all parts needed done and we will edit this for the 'before' and 'after' the main part of the music video.
The shots we completed today were for the 'prologue' and 'ending' as we planned this from the start as we felt this would suit the genre and also makes you get some background information. The shots were completed and we will be editing these shortly so that we meet our deadlines and have it completed by the time we come back to school in January.
When looking at the action plan we made we said it would be finished by the end of the week after filming and it was not, but we have gone round this by starting other bits while waiting and we will still try to achieve the complete music video fully edited by the end of the half term. We plan to do this by spending nights at Karl's and editing it there as he has the best resources for this.

Magazine Advert Research
Magazine adverts vary heavily on what it is designed to do. The magazine advert is seen by 100,000's of readers and has to be perfect if it wants to sell its product and this is exactly what they are made for, selling a product. In my advert I want this to be key as this is what it is meant to do and instead of making it fancy and hard to read ,I want it to be straight to the point and very clear as this is the best way an advert should be.The advert on the left is for a new fragrance and as you can see, it is surrounded with the product. The product is all over and by doing this, you know exactly what it is and how it looks. Also in large text is its name, again promoting the product. The fragrance also is being used by a model so that women think they will be like her when wearing this, again promoting this product. This is the style of product which uses this way of advertisement and also it would be put in a variety of magazines with a large amount of women reader, magazines like heat.
This is a music magazine advert for you me at six. Again, this has the band's name in large capital letters and the day the new album comes out is also in large. This is so that you remember and it will stick in your mind for longer.
The advert also uses many colours and a piece of artwork in the background making it look more attractive but still is not overshadowing the writing. It also has at the bottom a place where you can buy it, play.com .This is also generating sales and also making it easier for the reader to find a place to buy it.
I like this advert as it is very good looking and works with the band's genre. The artwork is clear and attracting and the writing still stands out to the reader. From this I would use the font style and how clear it is in my own magazine advert as this is key to getting people to look at the magazine.
This is another advert but for a different genre to the one above. This is for pop and the first thing you see is the singer. This is because anyone who likes the music will instantly recognise the singer because in the videos, they are at the centre of the camera and we recognise them instantly. This in itself is a great marketing tool for the advert and would make many readers stop and look at what is being shown
The writing is also clear and precise and it also talks about her most famous songs what most people know because they are played in shops and on radio stations. This again makes people want the album and generates more sales.
I like this advert because it uses the singer as its main marketing branch and I think that is a great idea. It fits the genre well but in my genre, folk , it will not be so good so I think I will not use this type of marketing but the idea of their most popular songs on the advert makes very good sense and that is one thing I may take forward to my next part of the magazine advert.
The magazine advert here is very different to the rest. It has an instant random look to it and this fits the bands genre as they try to do this. The advert also has large text for the band as this would not be recognisable without it unlike the advert above. The advert also has large text for the album name, again so that we know what it is called and it also offers a place to buy it again in the corner which is play.com. The advert also uses a very large image which catches the readers attention and works very well. I think this advert works very well because it gives it a random look to what usually is done. It still clearly shows the main parts though needed to sell the album and works very well. From this, I would take the idea of a large photo from and use this in a way if wanted. Also, the different colours of text works very well but in my genre I don't think this will work. Font research
Font research
Two commonly used fonts for the folk genre are:
- Cooper Black Italic (designed by Oswald Bruce Cooper in 1920s). It has been used in many music magazine adverts like this one for our music video. It is useful as it gives a retro look and feel to it and also is clear to read and understand

- Minion Pro. It has been used by the artist Sarah Jarosz for her album, follow me down. The singer's name is written in Minion Pro regular; the album title written in Minion Pro Italic creating a relation between both and it works really well. It makes it better to read and also more clear and it links better.
Examples of fonts found on Word:
Elephant Arial
Cooper Black
Garamond premier pro Harrington

Although These fonts are appealing to me, there are studies in which say different. The website talks about how uglier fonts catch the readers eyes more and this could be something to think about. Using these types of fonts would mean more people will start to look and this means a larger audience for the advertisement.
This could be something to think about when creating my blog and finding which font to use as it is an interesting theory. I think regency or a font with this type of look would look good for my target audience as the conventions of the font are that it should be basic as it is not trying to make itself standout, instead the music sells the product instead so it needs to be very basic fonts. I also want them to work together with each other all across the magazine advert so that it looks the most professional it can be.
A good variety of fonts.

Digipak sketch
This is my Digipak drawn and how I would like it to be after hearing the other people views from my class and taking on board what they said. I have done this so that I know what to do and I can use this as a good plan when I come to make on Photoshop because it is a guide for each part and also can help when designing also. I have highlighted what I want to have on the Digipak.
I have sketched when possible and also labelled when it has not been possible as I am not a great sketcher so I could not do some but I have shown or wrote about what I want and I will use these photos as something to evaluate my Digipak on when finished and use this as a tool to do that.

Update so far
We have now completed our filming at our main location, Bawsey pits in Kings Lynn. We completed this last weekend and we plan to film the last small part soon before Christmas so that it can be edited within our time we wanted it to be done within. We have also now completed the work around the video and are now planning our Digipak's and music magazines and they will hopefully also be completed by the end of January.
We are also getting the work we have not completed or forgot about before this uploaded within the next 3 weeks and I am aiming to have everything but the Digipak and magazine advert completed by Christmas half term as this will then give me time to do the evaluation and complete everything to a higher standard if needed.
We hope to be fully completed by the latest in January and we will the have time to revise for our exam, this should work best as then we have shared the time accordingly and have enough time to do what we need to do.
